James Glenn Ferguson, 91, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at the Lonoke Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lonoke, Ark. He was born Sept. 1, 1919, in Fort Scott, Kan., to James and Ethel (Briggs) Ferguson. He married Ruth Eileen Brooks, of Hume, Mo., on May 26, 1942, in Nevada, Mo.

Jimmie was inducted into the U.S. Navy in 1944 and received his honorable discharge in 1946 as a Motor Machinist's Mate 3rd Class.

Jimmie and Ruth lived for a short time in Vallejo, Calif., then moved to North Little Rock, Ark., where he worked 33 years for Union Pacific Railroad as a machinist and retired as an inspector in 1980.

Jimmie was a devoted husband. He and Ruth were best friends for almost 67 years. They enjoyed traveling, dancing and many other common interests together.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ferguson, on April 9, 2009.

He is survived by a nephew, Ed Brooks and his wife, Linda; and two nieces, Clarenita Brack and her husband, John, and Linda Garrison and her husband, Michael. He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 5, at 1 p.m., with services at 2 p.m., at Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, Pleasanton, Kan.

Internment will be in Evergreen Cemetary in Fort Scott, Kan.
