Harold Samuel Tucker, 67, the son of Harold F. and Harriet (Curran) Tucker was born July 19, 1943, in Independence, Mo., and passed from this life at 5:01 a.m., Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at the North Kansas City Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

Sam attended Kansas City public schools and in 1961 entered the United States Navy. He later returned home to the Kansas City area, working at the Leeds Plant. About 40 years ago, he and his wife, Shirley, started making Schell City their home while still spending time in Kansas City for employment. Schell City became their permanent home in 1990. Through the years Sam also worked as a tile setter and truck driver. His hobbies included fishing and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of the home in Schell City, Mo.; one son, Brian Tucker and Melissa of Gladstone, Mo.; two daughters, Beth Baker and Tom of Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, and Patty Humphrey and Randy of Harwood, Mo.; one brother, Dan Tucker of Fergus Falls, Minn.; two sisters, Stella Tacy of Chillicothe, Mo., and Donna Vioth of Osage City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Lakyn, Taryn, Matthew, Greg, Nicholas, Tesla and Kenzie; one great-grandaughter, Willow; several very special nieces and nephews; and a host of many friends. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; and his oldest son, Steve, who passed away Sept. 7, 2010.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City, Mo., with the Rev. Paul Thorade officiating. Pallbearers were Brian Tucker, John Courtney, Walk Koshko, Broc Koshko, Lucas Quamme and Rick Shaffer. Interment was in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Schell City, Mo.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home, Schell City, Mo.
