Deborah Ann Thorpe

Deborah "Debbie" A. Thorpe, 61, Nevada, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada. She resided at the Nevada Habilitation Center since September 1980.

Debbie was born Feb. 13, 1950, in Nevada, to parents, Betty Hettinger Thorpe and William Lawrence Thorpe.

She had resided with her family in Nevada and at an early age was admitted to Marshall State School where she stayed until Sept. 16, 1980. She then returned to Nevada and resided at Nevada Habilitation Center until her death. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and a brother Bill Thorpe in Nevada. She was an Episcopalian.

Following her mother's death in 1996, a family friend, Marlene McCarter, Nevada, was appointed her legal guardian.

For the last 30 years, Debbie was loved and cared for by many employees at the Nevada Habilitation Center. This was her home and her family. She enjoyed the attention and devotion she received over the years, especially the activities she was afforded. Included were: the rides about the community, trips out to eat, swimming at the pool, picnics, television, and the many holiday celebrations throughout the years.

Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, is in charge of cremation. No services are planned.
