Daroan Dean Sander, 50, Nevada, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., following a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 7, 1961, in Omaha, Neb., to Darrel Dean Sander and Joan Evelyn Larimore Sander. He married Martha J. Brewer on Jan. 5, 1991, in Nevada, and she survives of the home.

Daroan moved to Nevada, in 1969. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1979. Daroan was a three-year letterman on the football team earning conference, district, and state honors. After high school, he worked for the Missouri State Highway Department and Balk Farms. He worked as a machinist at W.F. Norman Corporation for 14 years, retiring in 2001, due to health reasons.

Daroan enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with his granddaughter, Abigail. He was a member of the Deerfield Baptist Church and a member of the National Harley Owners Group.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Martha, include one son, Darrell Sander, Nevada; one daughter, Jennifer Sander, Nevada; one granddaughter, Abigail Mendez, Nevada; his mother, Joan Sander, Moundville; two sisters, Joanel Friedli and her husband, Ed, Centralia, Mo., and Jill Sander, Nevada; and several nieces, nephews, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Darrel Sander; his grandparents; and his loyal German Shepherd, "Husker."

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 16, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 7-8 p.m., today, at the funeral home.
