Alice Adell Rives

On Dec. 7, 2011, at the age of 100, Alice passed from this earth surrounded by her loving family.

Alice was born May 18, 1911, in Wheatland, Mo., to John and Nora (Crooks) Costelow. She rode a blind mare while attending school in Wheatland. Alice married Charles Nelson Rives at midnight, Sept. 9, 1925, in Barton County, Mo. They moved to a farm in Iantha where they lived 76 years. Alice enjoyed milking and making cottage cheese, gardening, sewing and reading. She attended Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints and was a devoted farmers wife, mother and grandmother.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; daughter, Beatrice Mayes; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four brothers, John, Buel, Myron and Charlie; and three sisters, Eva, Mary and Olive.

Survivors include sons, James Rives and wife, Josephine, of Moundville, Mo., Ronald Rives and wife, Lorene, of Jasper, Mo.; one daughter, Jean Foster of Lamar, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 53 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m., at the Konantz-Warden Chapel, Lamar, Mo., with C.K. Warden officiating. Pallbearers were Don Rives, Aaron Foster, Chub Rives, Troy Foster, Gailand Johnston and Justin Foster. Interment was in Iantha Cemetery, Iantha, Mo.

Arrangements were under the direction of Konantz-Warden Funeral Home, Lamar, Mo.
