Dorothy "Pudgie" Ogle

Saturday, January 14, 2012

Dorothy "Pudgie" Ogle, 72, Afton, Okla., formerly of Nevada, parted this world on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born on Oct. 7, 1939, in Nevada, Mo., to Artie Ephland Wescoat and Mary Agnes Brick Wescoat. She married Gary Ogle on June 14, 1959, in Nevada, Mo., and he survives of the home.

Pudgie was a member of the First Christian Church, Nevada, a charter member of Thalias, and a member of The Red Hats Society, and she was a 15-year participant in the Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure.

"Our mom fought a 15 year battle of Stage 3 breast cancer. She had a stem cell transplant in March of 1999 that bought her 14 more years in which she lived them to the fullest. Pudgie had a way about her in which everyone she met became her instant friend. Every doctor and nurse she would encounter would profess to what a special lady she was. As kids, our house was the "hang out" house, where she was known for her chocolate chip cookies, her warm smile and her love of our friends. She was always there to encourage everyone and had a compliment to give at every turn. Strangers would befriend her, and those who knew her couldn't help but to love her. Her generous and kind spirit, along with her courage and humor guided her family and friends through her life, and through her battle with breast cancer. You would never hear her complain, nor would she want you to feel sorry for her...she believed up to the very end that she was fighting this disease. She was dancing and singing...and cleaning every chance she got...she truly is an inspiration, a pillar of love and a model of what courage is."

Pudgie leaves on earth: her amazing main caregiver, and loyal mate, who not once left her side in any of her hospital stays, and with whom she had celebrated her 52nd wedding anniversary, Gary Ogle. She has three children, Julie (Ogle) Domer and her husband, Mike, Kirk Ogle and his wife, Francine, Joni Ogle and Shauna Curtis; three grandchildren, Brantlee and Brooke Gotschall, Dori Ogle, Shelby Ogle D'Sha and husband, Kris D'Sha; three great-grandchildren, Tanner Gotschall, Brice Gotschall and Miley D'Sha; four siblings, Armella Horne, Florence Pierce, Evelyn Bain and Kenny Wescoat; her little Bichon, Maggie a.k.a "Sugars," along with her nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Her love, laughter, courage and generosity will forever be in each of our hearts. She will be missed every minute of every day; her silly sayings will be quoted throughout her family and friends as we celebrate her life each day.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 16, at the First Christian Church in Nevada with the Revs. Bill Platt and Leon Weece officiating. Friends may call now and until 1 p.m., Monday, at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.

Those who wish may contribute to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
