Dortha M. "Pope" Ramsey

Dortha M. "Pope" Ramsey, 92, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Christian Health Care, Nevada. She was born on March 8, 1920, in Dederick, Mo., to Schyler L. Pope and Susie Jane Conway Pope. She married Roy Lee Ramsey on Feb. 25, 1939, and he preceded her in death in 1965.

Dortha was a daycare provider and operated her own daycare for 25 years in Nevada.

Survivors include her children, Shirley Bass, Republic, Mo., Richard Ramsey, Jerico Springs, Mo., Sharon Lamb, Nevada, and Nancy Sanders, Nevada; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Mary Hughes, Porterville, Calif.; two brothers, Leonard Pope, Moundville, Mo., and Louis Pope, Woodland, Calif.; and numerous and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Ramsey; two sisters, Lorene Wolf and Martha Landon; and two brothers, Elmer Dean Pope and Lawrence Pope.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 7, at Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
