Gwendolyn Marie Dreyer

Gwendolyn Marie Dreyer, 70, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, following a sudden illness. She was born Jan. 9, 1942, the daughter of Gordon Foster and Frances Ballentine Foster.

Gwen was born and raised in this area and spent most all of her life here. She received a bachelor's of science degree in education from Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Neb., and a master of science degree in curriculum and instruction from Pittsburg State University. She taught in the Nevada R-5 school system for more than 30 years. Gwen was a member of the United Methodist Church of Nevada, the United Methodist Women's Club, the ADK sorority, and was an active volunteer with meals on wheels. She loved to paint, cross stitch, scrap booking and was an avid bridge player. Gwen loved her children and grandchildren and that love was returned in full.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Dreyer and his wife, Carrie, Nevada, and Paul Dreyer and his wife, Rachelle, Bronaugh; four grandchildren, Emma Dreyer, Beth Dreyer, Johnnie Dreyer and Gilbert Dreyer; father, Gordon Foster, Nevada; and one sister, Jane Woodruff, Liberty, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 19, at the United Methodist Church, Nevada, with Rod Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until noon at Ferry Funeral Home, Thursday, and the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Wednesday, at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
