Corla June Houchin, 74, Walker, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, following a sudden illness. She was born Aug. 29, 1937, in Lowry City, Mo., to Floyd A. Bauer and Dora D. Taylor Bauer. She married James Houchin Sr. on Feb. 19, 1954, in Kansas City, Kan., and he preceded her in death.

Corla grew up in the Kansas City area. She came to Nevada in 1975 and had lived in Walker for the past 32 years. She worked as an aide at the Nevada Habilitation Center more than 20 years, until her retirement.

Survivors include her children, Dawn Odom and her husband, Rex, Nevada, Roxanne Chapman and her husband, Bill, Walker, Mo., and James Houchin Jr. and his wife, Vickie, Nevada; seven grandchildren, David Hazel, Dana Diamond, Greg Ramsey, Kim Steinbach, Joe Chapman, Kyle Houchin, and Kevin Houchin; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one sister, Gail Fotenot and her husband, Bob, Buford, S.C. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeffrey; three brothers; and three sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 21, at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Walker, Mo., with Larry Brown officiating. Friends may call now until 9:30 a.m., Monday, at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
