Burl David Crawford Sr., 89, formerly of Nevada, passed away on July 30, 2012, at his home in Montgomery, Texas. He was born Oct. 27, 1922, in Nevada, to Rush Crawford and Ada Holland Crawford. He and Roena Mensendike were married on Aug. 29, 1948, in Peoria, Ill., and she survives of the home.

Burl was a graduate of Nevada High School and Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korea. Following his service, Burl was employed with the Missouri Pacific (Union Pacific) Railroad for 33 years, until his retirement in 1985.

Survivors include his wife, Roena; two sons, Michael Crawford and Burl Crawford Jr.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Grace Crawford. He was preceded in death by one son, David Crawford, on March 12, 1996.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6, at Moore Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Platt officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Missouri Honors Program.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, and the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday between noon and 2 p.m., prior to the graveside service.
