Edward Michael "Butch" Best

Edward Michael "Butch" Best, 60, Nevada, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at Magnolia Square Nursing Home in Springfield, Mo., following a brief illness. He was born Dec. 19, 1951, in Carrollton, Ill., to Richard Carroll Best and Florence Louise Fogarty Best.

Butch came to Nevada with his family at a young age in 1959. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1970. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia. Butch worked in commercial construction as safety inspector all of his adult life. He had worked for Schafer, Kline, and Warren Construction in Kansas City for the past eight years. Butch loved to hunt, fish and was a member of the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America.

Survivors include six sisters, Marjorie Sanders and her husband, Dennis, Slater, Mo., Rebecca Williams, Independence, Mo., Carolyn Keith and her husband, Dennis, El Dorado Springs, Mo., Nancy Dillon and her husband, Ronald, Shelton, Wash., Bunny Sherrill and her husband, Jason, Springfield, Mo., and Marsha Best, Springfield, Mo.; numerous nieces and nephews and his loyal Jack Russell terrier, "Chase." He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Patrick.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 25, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
