Charles Procyk, 87, a resident of Fort Scott, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at the Medicalodges of Fort Scott, Kan. He was born Nov. 25, 1924, in Greensburg, Penn., the son of Charles Procyk and Rosaila Jacina Procyk. He married Margaret Hamrock on May 12, 1945, at Youngwood, Penn. Charles was a machinist and had worked in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Texas prior to retiring to Fort Scott, Kan., in 1988. He enjoyed tending to his yard and flowers. He was a member of the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Fort Scott.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two sons, Ronald Procyk and wife, Donna, Twinsburg, Ohio, and John Procyk and wife, Pamela, Brunswick, Ohio; two daughters, Diane Laverty and husband, Glenn, Henderson, Nev., and Joanne Hall, Friendswood, Texas; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Eugene Procyk and wife, Clara, Frisco, Texas; a sister, Catherine Kamarchik, Greensburg, Penn.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson; a brother; and a sister.

Funeral services and burial will take place next week in Pennsylvania. Services will be under the direction of the McCauley Funeral Home of Youngwood, Penn. Memorials are suggested to the Holy Cross Catholic Church of Youngwood, Penn., and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, KS 66701, who is in charge of local arrangements.
