Cross country competes at Lamar

LAMAR, Mo. -- The Nevada High School and Middle School cross country team got back into competition on the road Tuesday with less than stellar results.
In the varsity boys' 5,000-meter race, Ben Sommer posted the best finish for the Tigers as he took 24th with a time of 18 minutes, 37 seconds. Dalton Shunkwiler finished 32nd and Max Daniel took 76th.
In the JV boys' 5,000 meters, Kieran Cane finished 23rd in 23:15. Myrissa Dunfield took 10th in the JV girls' 5,000-meter race in 28:48.
John Quitno posted the best finish for Nevada in the middle school boys' 2,500 meters as he took 38th with a time of 9:32. Trenton Ellis took 91st and Luke Sudcamp finished 110th. Virginia Haverstic was the only Nevada runner in the middle school girls' 2,500 and she finished in 56th with a time of 12:08.
The next competition on the schedule for Nevada is set for Thursday, when the varsity squad heads back out on the road to compete at Pittsburg.
