Nevada girls fall at Republic

REPUBLIC, Mo. -- The Lady Tigers of Republic remained unbeaten after holding off a challenge from Nevada for a 64-54 victory Monday night -- two nights after they defeated Nevada, 59-34, Saturday in the championship game of the Lady Tiger Classic at Nevada High School.
Republic led, 26-19, at halftime Monday night only to see Nevada tie the game at 29 during the third quarter. After four lead changes, Republic led, 42-38, going into the fourth quarter.
The visiting Lady Tigers cut Republic's lead to 42-40 early in the final quarter before a couple of Nevada turnovers allowed Republic to expand its lead and seal the victory.
With the win, Republic improved to 17-0 on the season and has won 23 games in a row since a loss at Branson on Feb. 16, 2012. Sarah Kreul led Republic with 18 points, including 10 of 13 from the free-throw line.
Michayla Shanks added 13 points, including four 3-pointers.
Morgan McNeley led three Nevada Lady Tigers in double figures with 15 points. Tori Dahmer added 14 and Rilie Good chipped in 11.
The loss dropped Nevada's record to 11-8 on the season. Republic also won the junior-varsity game, 64-27.
The Lady Tigers return to the court Friday night at El Dorado Springs.
