Francis Marion "Frank" Meek, Jr., 80, of Richards, Mo., died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at the Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott, Kan. He was born Nov. 5, 1923, in Richards, Mo., the son of Francis M. Meek and Nellie Brundridge Meek. He married Virginia Poyner on Oct. 15, 1942, in El Dorado Springs, Mo. Mr. Meek had worked for Buell Cabinet and later retired from SmiCo Norvell. He was also a longtime farmer and stockman.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of the home; two sons, Harry Lee Meek, Fort Scott, Kan., and Charles Meek, Richards, Mo.; one daughter, Brenda Budd, Hume, Mo. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tommy Meek; and a sister, Pansy Williams.

The Rev. Bryan Keith will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 29, at the East Liberty Cemetery near Stotesbury, Mo. Family and friends may meet at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., Sunday afternoon at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel.
