Mary Lorraine Cole

Mary Lorraine Cole, 76, Butler, Mo., died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. She was born June 6, 1927, to Joel Edward and Rose Della DeVol Burger in Kansas City, Mo.

Mary grew up in Kansas City where she graduated form Central High School. She resided in New Mexico, Independence, Bates City and Spruce, Mo., before moving to Butler in 1964. She worked at a toy company in Appleton City, Mo., followed by a 15 year career as a nurses' aide at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. She was a Seventh Day Adventist.

Mary is survived by two sons, Harlon "Duffy" Cole, Nevada, Mo., and Charles Cole, Butler, Mo.; a daughter, Mary Ellen Patterson, Belton, Mo.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Tuesday, Dec. 30 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler with Pastor Gary Brady officiating. Contributions may be given to the Humane Society. Services were under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler.
