Sandra Kay Thomas, 59, of Fort Scott, Kan., died Friday morning, Feb. 20, 2004, at the Mercy Health Center Emergency Room. She was born May 6, 1944, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Ernest Eldon Goddard and Loreta Vernice Thomas Goddard. She graduated from Richards High School in 1962, and Fort Scott Community College in 1965. She married James Lee Thomas on Aug. 29, 1963, in Fort Scott, Kan. Sandra had owned and operated the H&R Block Tax Service since 1985. She also owned and operated Monograms and More.

Survivors include her husband, James Thomas; two sons, Ernest E. Thomas, Lebanon, Mo., and Theo N. Thomas, West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Judy Batchelor, Milo, Mo., and Bonnie Willoughby, Joplin, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Howard "Buddy" Thomas.

William James Schafer, Mercy Pastoral Care, will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Hiatville Cemetery, Hiatville, Kan. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Monday, in the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel.
