Wayman Eugene Cole

Wayman Eugene Cole, 82, Bland, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, in the Capital Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City, Mo. He was born on Oct. 2, 1921, in Stillwell, Kan., to Andrew Gatha Cole and Alice Catherine McDonald Cole.

On Feb. 11, 1972, Gene was married to Carole Sue Branson Basham in Bland, Mo., and she survives of the home.

Gene served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the service he hauled freight over the road. He also drove a school bus.

Also surviving are two sons, Harlan E. Cole, Nevada, Mo., and Charles M. Cole, Butler, Mo.; one daughter, Mary Ellen Patterson, Grandview, Mo.; and two step-sons Larry Basham, Bland, Mo., and Loren Basham, Belle, Mo.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Josephine Ann.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 2, at Sassmann's Funeral Home in Bland, Mo., with Bruce Elmore officiating. Interment will be in the Bland Union Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday at 5 p.m.
