Deaths

Anna E. (Jean) Sparks

Anna E. (Jean) Sparks, 76, Fruitport, Mich., formerly of Nevada, died July 12, 2004, at her home. She was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Barry, Mo., the daughter of James R. and Jessie Mae Miller. She married Amos N. Sparks in 1953 in Arlington, Va., and he preceded her in death.

She graduated from Roscoe High School. She worked in the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw, Poland, in 1952. She was a medical records technician and later a department supervisor at the Nevada State School and Hospital from 1972 until her retirement in 1990.

She is survived by two sons, James Sparks, Liberty, Mo., and Kirby Sparks, Fruitport, Mich.; one daughter, Denise Gold, Springfield; one brother, Ralph Miller, Land O'Lakes, Fla.; one sister, Louise Worlow, Cleburne, Texas; and five grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday, July 16, 2004, at the National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Kerri Beth Dighero

Kerri Beth Dighero, 25, died July 12, 2004. Services were held at Tolson Cemetery on July 15, at 10 a.m., with Bruce Hooper officiating. Musical selections were "Go Rest High," "Down to the River to Pray" and "Angel Band." Pallbearers were Larry Dighero, Terry Dighero, Ron Dighero, Herb Dighero, Dennis Warner and Larry Warner. Interment was in Tolson Cemetery, Sheldon. Arrangements were by Ferry Funeral Home.

Obituaries

Clyde J. Buck

Clyde J. Buck, 80, Richards, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born May 14, 1924, in Nevada, to Louis Clyde Buck and Arminta Emaline Maze Buck. He married Neva Arlene Phipps on Aug. 27, 1949, in Kansas City, Mo., and she survives of the home.

Clyde graduated from Nevada High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in England. Clyde worked for Milgram Food Stores in Kansas City, Mo., for 28 years. He was a member of the Oakley Methodist Church, Kansas City, Mo., and the Sheffield Masonic Lodge No. 625. He came back to Nevada in 1969. He owned and operated the Compton Junction Store from 1978 until he retired in 1993. He was also a member of the Nevada Elks Lodge No. 564 and the Nut Growers Association.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Arlene, include one son, Mike Buck and his wife, Michelle, Richards; two daughters, Lee Anne Berryman and her husband Jim, Kansas City, Mo., and Debbie Gibbs and her husband Wayne, El Dorado Springs; nine grandchildren, Kirk Buck and his wife, Kim, Nevada, Christy Buck, Olathe, Kan., Ryan Buck and Hayden Buck both of Richards, Mark Berryman and his wife, Paula, Kansas City, Lisa Berryman, Kansas City, Mo., Robert Wayne Gibbs, El Dorado Springs, Debbie Pike and her husband, Justin, El Dorado Springs, and Tammy Gibbs, El Dorado Springs; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jerry Pickler, New London, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 16, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Terry Mosher officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Those who wish may contribute to the Barone Alzheimer's Care Unit in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Kenneth Wayne Weak, 74, Deerfield, died July 14, 2004, at his residence. Services and family information will be announced later by Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
