McKenzie Faye Lowry

Joshua and Rachel Lowry, Springfield, are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, McKenzie Faye Lowry. McKenzie was born at 10:52 p.m., on Aug. 13, 2004, at St. John's Regional Health Center. She joins a sister, Taylor Marie Lowry.

Deaths

Jerry David Gatewood Sr.

Jerry David Gatewood Sr., 61, Monett, died on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on Aug. 15, 1942, in Milo, the son of the late Arthur Ray and Rhonda Peterson Gatewood.

He was retired from Tyson's in Monett, where he was in the maintenance department.

He is survived by one son, Jerry Gatewood Jr., Purdy, Mo.; three daughters, Vickie Jett, Norwood, Mo., Rolena Church, Cassville, Mo., and Amanda Gatewood, Monett; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

No services were planned. Arrangements were by the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.

Laura Ardena Darnold

Laura Ardena Darnold, 87, died Aug. 16, 2004. Services were held at Ferry Funeral Home on Aug. 18, 2004, at 2 p.m., with Dr. William Cox officiating. Soloist was Wes Morton. Musical selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden." Organist was Wanda Kannady. Pallbearers were Steve Winton, Bobby Winton, Terry Winton, Scott Coale, Steven W. Winton and Scott Winton. Interment was in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Arrangements were by Ferry Funeral Home.

Julia Angeline Lamb

Julia Angeline Lamb, 88, Fort Scott, Kan., died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born July 14, 1916, in Carthage, the daughter of Everett H. Markley and Leota Epperson Markley. She married Arthur Lamb, Jr., on Dec. 25, 1935, at Fort Scott. He preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1982.

She was a 1934 graduate of the Nevada High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was active with the Miriam Circle of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Trainmen Ladies Lodge and the AARP.

Survivors include three sons, Burnie Lamb, Foil Scott, Kan., Everett Lamb, Round Rock, Texas, and Arther Lamb, Springfield; two daughters, Eloise Wright, Fort Scott, Kan., and Charlotte Johnson, Claremore, Okla. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Arnold Seavers and Everetta Lankford.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.0. Sidney Pierre Weltmer

Sidney Pierre Weltmer, 88, Nevada, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, following a lengthy illness. He was born May 15, 1916, in Nevada, to Ernest Cyrus Weltmer and Dorothee Hoffman Weltmer. He married Ruth E. Miller on Dec. 25, 1941, in the Centenary Methodist Church, Nevada, and she survives of the home.

He grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1934 and attended two years at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He served in the Army Corps from April 6, 1942, to Dec. 10, 1945, during World War II where he served in the photo section of the ground forces in the Army Air Corps. When he returned to Nevada, he established the Commercial Photo Service. He later became a partner in the Graphic Arts Studio from which he retired in January 1982. He was a member of the Coffee Club.

Survivors in addition to his wife Ruth include one sister, Denyse Detloff, Nevada; and several nieces and nephews.

Family visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, from 7-8 p.m. at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Following cremation, a private family service will be held.
