Lydia Jo Ast

Mr. and Mrs. Brian Ast, Nevada, are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Lydia Jo Ast. Lydia was born on Sept. 12, 2004, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. She weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces, and measured 21 inches. She joins a brother, Braden James Ast. Paternal grandparents are Tom and Louise Ast, Milo. Paternal great-grandparent is Agnes Ast. Maternal grandparents are Jim and Joan Erpenbach, Nevada.

Obituaries

Joy Estelle Mynatt

Joy Estelle Mynatt, 84, Nevada, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at Freeman Health System, Joplin, following a brief illness. She was born Feb. 25, 1920, in Nevada, to Herbert Albro Sheets and Edna Mae Kibler Sheets. She married Hubert Mynatt in 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1985.

Joy grew up in Nevada and attended Nevada schools. She was an LPN for Nevada City Hospital for many years. She later worked for Nevada State Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and was an Elks widow.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Klumpp, and her husband, Richard, Nevada; two brothers, Glen Sheets, Nevada, and Herbert Sheets and his wife, Kay, Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren, Joy Smith and her husband, Dan, Nevada, Kathy Schmalz and her husband, Bob, Olathe, Kan., Rick Klumpp and his wife, Teresa, Richards, Mo., Jennifer Jobe and her husband, Jeff, Nevada; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, with John Nichols officiating. Friends may call now and until 2 p.m., Friday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The family receives friends 1--2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
