J.W. Johnson

J.W. Johnson, 78, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Marion County Nursing Home in Yellville, Ark. He was born on Dec. 23, 1925, in Lead Hill, Ark., to William McKinley and Maud Ellen (Orr) Johnson. He married Joan (Warren) Johnson.

He was employed as a nurse's aid for 19 years at the State Hospital in Nevada. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Yellville Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Johnson, Yellville, Ark.; one daughter, Carol Walker, Nevada; one brother, Billy Joe Johnson; two sisters, Mary Wilkerson, Oregon, and Cuma Johnson, Leston, Idaho; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Edith.

Services were held on Friday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m., at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Ark., with Bill Reed officiating. Interment was in Keesee Cemetery in Yellville, Ark. Pallbearers were Jim Walker, Billy Walker, Joe Lusk, Johnny Taylor, James Henderson and Freeman Weaver.
