Frank William (Bus) Mansfield

Frank William (Bus) Mansfield, 100, Perry, Iowa, passed away Nov. 20, 2004, at Park Care Centre, Newton, lowa. Frank was born June 24, 1904, near Mellette, S.D., to William and Mamie Horning Mansfield. He was married to Florence Hazel Washnok Oct. 8, 1929.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Lewis and Harold; and one son, Delton F. Mansfield.

During World War II, he was deployed to help build the Alaskan Highway. On his return to Aberdeen, S.D., he was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad as a brakeman/conductor. He was transferred to Perry, Iowa, in 1955; and retired from the railroad in 1972. Frank enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of a gun club, the Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge of Perry, Iowa.

Survivors include two sons, Delbert and wife Janice of Nevada; Jack and wife, Marilyn, of Victorville, Calif.; one daughter Connie Barton and husband, Lonnie of Newton, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Linda Natali, Danny Mansfield, Martin Mansfield, Kevin Mansfield, Kelly Jungels, Chris Barton, Scott Mansfield, and Ryan Barton; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Nov. 30, at Murdock Funeral Home, Perry, Iowa. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Unit at Park Care, Newton, Iowa.
