James L. Dellinger

James L. Dellinger, 87, Ottumwa, Iowa, died at 9:07 a.m., Feb. 7, 2005, at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born April 4, 1917, in Ottumwa, to Charles Franklin and Allean Logan Dellinger. He married June Reese, April 5, 1938, and she preceded him in death in 2001.

He graduated Ottumwa High School in 1936. He has been a resident of Ottumwa, all of his life. He worked at John Morrell & Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of Davis Street Christian Church, and was an avid sportsman in fishing, hunting and bowling. He loved woodworking for his family.

Surviving is a daughter, Mary Jo Testman and husband, Larry, of Nevada; a son, James C. Dellinger and wife, Karen, of Ottumwa; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, at Reece Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan French officiating. Burial will be in the Ottumwa Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, at Reece Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Hospice at 312 E. Alta Vista, Ottumwa, IA 52501.
