Derwood Ashby Tough

Derwood Ashby Tough, 89, Nevada, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, following a short illness. He was born Nov. 16, 1915, in Metz, to Claud Ashby Tough and Ola E. Johnston Tough. He was married July 14, 1937, in Nevada, to Anna Mae Thomas Tough. She survives of the home.

Mr. Tough came to Nevada at an early age. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1933. He worked in the grocery business with his parents for a number of years. He had also operated Cedar Lawn Dairy with his family. He moved to his farm in 1949 where he farmed and raised cattle until his retirement.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Anna Mae, include, two daughters, Janie Tew and husband, Clyde, San Antonio, Texas, Judy Scherrer and husband, Matt, Richmond, Va.; three grandchildren, Sarah Jane T. Noblin, Houston, Texas, AnnaMarie Tough Weise, New York, Ny., and Bryan Ashby T. Tew, Lake Charles, La.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Tommy Taylor; and one sister, Imogene Howell, in 2004.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. A private committal service will be held at Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Friends may call from now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening, between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m..

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
