Elma Gladys Brown, 98, Fairhaven Springs, died June 13, 2005, at the Cedar County Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 4, 1906, in Fairhaven Springs, Mo., the daughter of John and Eva Dora (Reed) Plummer. She married Joe Brown on June 12, 1940, and he preceded her in death on April 26, 1970.

She spent her entire life in Fairhaven Springs, where she worked with her parents on a small farm where they lived. She also helped her parents run the post office. For a time she also worked as a telephone operator in Harwood. She and her husband owned and operated the grocery store and service station in Fairhaven Springs. She continued operating the store after his death until her retirement at 90 years of age. She was a member of the Harwood Baptist Church and supporter of the Fairhaven Springs Park.

Survivors include her son, Harvey Albert Plummer, Twin Falls, Idaho; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her husband, Joe, she was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 18, at the Harwood Baptist Church with Robert Fox Jr. officiating. Musical selections will be provided by Russell Morerod and Angela Scotten. Pallbearers will be Robert Fox Sr., Dale Stark, Jerry Stark, Roy Parkinson, Orval Moore and Bobby Scotten. Interment will be in the Green Mound Cemetery in Harwood. Arrangements are the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City. Memorials are suggested to the Fairhaven Springs Park in care of the funeral home.
