Glenn Phil McQueen, 83, of Osage Beach, Mo., died Friday, June 17, 2005.

He was born Oct. 3, 1921, in Nevada, the son of Ray and Francis Layette McQueen. He lived here until 1942, when he left to join the U.S. Army. He married Nadine Embrey in Carson City, Nev., in 1959.

He trained in Camps White and Adair, Ore., going overseas in April 1944. He served in Italy and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct and Victory Medals, ETO Ribbon with three Battle Stars, American Theatre Ribbon, Combat Inf. Badge and Presidential Unit Citation. He was wounded in Italy in November 1944, and discharged in November 1945. He then entered the Army Reserves and continued in this capacity until November 1948, when he resumed active duty. He served in the Korean War and was later discharged from the Army as a Staff Sergeant in October 1952.

After marriage, he lived in Osage Beach and was self employed as a trucker and for many years was bus driver for the Ozark Opry.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine, of the home; and three brothers, Neil McQueen, of Nevada, Ralph McQueen, of Springfield, and Raymond McQueen, of Texas; plus several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 20, in Osage Beach. Interment was held on Tuesday, June 21, at 1 p.m., in Newton Burial Park with graveside services and military ceremony.
