Marilyn Martin, 56, of Columbia, Mo., died at her home on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, at Columbia United Church of Christ with Carole Barner officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Martin was born Sept. 3, 1948, in St. Louis, to Jesse and Dorothy Parey. Marilyn earned a Master's Degree in Education and taught mathematics from 1970 to 2001 at West Junior High School. While at West she coached girls' basketball, volleyball, and track. After retiring from teaching she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri. She was employed by the University at the Student Health Clinic.

Survivors include her husband, David Martin. David was born in Nevada and is the son of Floyd and Margaret Martin. He is the nephew of Franklin Norman of Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions to the Marilyn Martin Memorial Youth Fund, at the Columbia United Church of Christ, 3201 I-70 Dr. NW, Columbia, Mo. 65202.
