Edward Lee Hood

Edward Lee Hood, age 58, Nevada, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center. He was born April 2, 1947, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Edward Lee Hood and Lenora Lightwine Hood. He married Debbie Davis on Feb. 29, 1996.

Edward and Debbie lived in Pittsburg prior to moving to Nevada. Edward was a truck driver prior to his illness. Following the loss of his eyesight, Ed worked for Envision in Pittsburg. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie, of the home in Nevada; his mother, Lenora Hood, Ellinwood, Kan.; three sons, Matt Hood and David Belcher, Pittsburg and Jr. Belcher, Arma Kan.; three daughters, Anna Hood, Springfield, Mo., Sarah Hood, Pittsburg, and Shelly Claypool, Nevada. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert Hood and Kevin Hood, Ellinwood, Kan.; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and grandmother.

James "Red" Stradley, V.F.W. Chaplain, will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m., Monday in the U.S. National Cemetery, Fort Scott. Military honors will be conducted by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m., Monday until leaving for the cemetery.
