Kent Lee Wood, 48, Nevada, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2006, at his home in Nevada following a lengthy illness. He was born May 25, 1957, in Richmond, Mo., to Gene Edward Wood and Mamie Marie Hollingsworth Wood. He married Janice K. Rice on May 12, 1983, in Junction City, Kan., and she survives of the home.

Kent grew up and graduated from high school in Lexington, Mo. He had lived in Nevada since 1991. He owned and operated Wood's Auto Body in Nevada since 1994. Kent was an avid golfer at Frank E. Peters Golf Course, Nevada.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Janice of the home, include three stepsons, Tim Hitsman, Clay Center, Kan., Tony Hitsman, Clay Center, and Jerry Hitsman, Fayette, Mo.; six grandchildren; mother, Mamie Howard, Lexington; two brothers, John E. Wood and Randy L. Wood, Lexington; one sister, Maymie Brinkley, Kansas City, Kan., and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Casa Azteca from 2-4 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 18.
