Gladys Helen Forkner, 90, Nevada, Mo., died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Christian Health Care in Nevada. She was born Oct. 27, 1915, in Rinehart, Mo., to "T.W." Young and Grace Scrutchfield Young. She married Marvin Everett Forkner on Aug. 5, 1934, at home in Rinehart. He preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1993.

Gladys was born and reared in the Rinehart and Metz areas. She graduated from Metz High School in 1933 as valedictorian of her class. Gladys and her husband farmed and raised livestock and resided in the Rinehart community for over 65 years. She was a homemaker, a charter member of the Rinehart Friendship Club, a Rinehart 4-H Leader for 40 years, a member of the Rinehan Christian Church, and also served as church custodian for many, many years.

Survivors include her children, Marilyn Y. Greer and her husband, Lawrence, Milo, Mo., Helen M. Nutt and her husband Ziden, Joplin, Mo., Everett Forkner and his wife Ruby, Richards, Mo., Larry Forkner and his wife, Marsha, Richards, Brad A. Forkner and his wife Lee, Lostant, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, March 6, at the Rinehart Christian Church with the Rev. Gary Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Rinehart Cemetery. Friends may call now and until 8:30 a.m., on Monday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, and the family receives friends 4-5 p.m., Sunday, March 5, at the funeral home.
