Elma Louise Davis

Elma Louise Davis, age 85, the daughter of Oscar Herbert and Frances Belle (Lukenbill) Simmons was born March 29,1921, in Elkhart, Kan., and passed from this life on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada, Mo.

Early in her childhood, Elma, along with her family came to Missouri by covered wagon. She attended school in Walker, Mo., then on Aug. 8, 1935, she was united in marriage to Clarence Lenard Davis. To their union three sons and five daughters were born. Elma was a homemaker and worked for a time at Nellie Don in Nevada. For a short time while the family was living in the Kansas City area she was employed at a daycare. Elma was a strict and loving mother and grandmother who loved playing bingo, fishing, working with flowers, playing cards, Yahtzee, and working with children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Schell City, Mo.

Survivors include her four daughters, Lena England and her husband John of Rich Hill, Mo., Shirley Moore and her husband Jerry of Harwood, Mo., Sharon Robinson of Schell City, and Kaye Reasoner and her husband Daurell of Harwood; her son Dennis Davis and his wife Fran of Alvarado, Texas; one adopted daughter Jean Mura of Harwood; two sisters, Irene McKinney of Higginsville, Mo., and Connie Becker of the state of Virginia; 27 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Elma was preceded in death by her parents; her two sons, Lenard Ray Davis and Ronnie Eugene Davis; her daughter, Karen Louise Davis; and her husband Clarence Lenard Davis who passed away in 1982.

Graveside services with interment for Elma Louise Davis were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 29, at the Green Mound Cemetery in Harwood, with Tim Brower officiating. Musical selections were provided by David Souza. Pallbearers were Dennis Davis, John England, Lonnie Davis, Denton Underwood, Jerry Dwayne Moore, Randy Hayes, Rick Reasoner, and Dennis Davis Jr. Memorials are suggested to the Cardiac Rehab Division of the Nevada Regional Medical Center or the Green Mound Cemetery in Harwood, in care of the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City, who were in charge of the arrangements.
