Ruth Virginia "Gini" Thompson

Ruth Virginia "Gini" Thompson, 87, Nevada, Mo., formerly of Caldwell and Lawrence, Kan., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, at Christian Health Care in Nevada. She was born June 4, 1919, in Fairfield, Iowa, the only child of Verl Abner and Margaret Elsie Houghton Teeter. She married Frederick Luther Thompson on March 13, 1942, in Dallas, Texas. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2003.

Virginia graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in commercial art. Her life's work was as a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was active throughout her life in the Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star, P.E.O., and Kappa Kappa Gamma Social Sorority. Gini and Fred especially enjoyed their retirement years playing bridge, traveling, and visiting family. She was a superb cook, gracious hostess, and Oklahoma University football fan. Her passion was painting places and scenes where she lived and visited.

She is survived by four children, Margaret "Peggy" Thompson, Blue Springs, Mo.; Patricia "Patti" Reemer, St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands; F.L. "Rick" Thompon, Nevada; and William "Bill" Thompson, Rowlette, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Caldwell City Cemetery, Caldwell City, Kan., with Ralph Clark officiating. Friends may call until 8 o'clock, this evening, Sept. 29, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Memorials are suggested to the Nevada Regional Medical Center or the Christian Health Care Hospice in care of the funeral home.
