Juanita Mae Gilbert

Juanita Mae Gilbert, 64, of Oskaloosa, Kan., formerly of Bonner Springs, Kan., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006 at her home.

Mrs. Gilbert was born Nov. 6, 1942, in Kansas City, Kan., and lived the majority of her life in the Kansas City, Kan., area. She had worked in banking for more than 40 years at one time as an assistant vice president at the Edwardsville State Bank. She enjoyed traveling the country on a five year break from banking with her husband as a co-driver over the road trucking. More recently she had worked at the Commercial State Bank in Bonner Springs, as a bookkeeper and customer service representative until she retired in 2005. She volunteered as the muralist for the Nortonville Public Library where she designed and painted a 25-foot long mural, and was a member of the Gem of the Plains Art Association. Juanita will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of more than 28 years, Roger Jack Gilbert of the home; five children, Roger J. Gilbert, Gentry, Ark., Cheryl Baron, Springdale, Ark., Tara Garcia, Pomona, Kan., Diane Trinkle, McLouth, Kan., and Denise Burkett, Kansas City, Mo.; four brothers, Bill, Vernon, Jim and Steve Moyer; nine grandchildren, Heather, Patrick, Bobby, Michael, Crystal, Krissa, James, John and Courtney; and two great-grandchildren, Gordon and Zachary.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs, Kan., where the family will receive friends at the visitation from 1-3 p.m., prior to the service Saturday with private family interment to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery at a later date.

The family suggest memorial contributions to Southern Care Hospice in care of the funeral home.
