Robert Gene Nunez, 76, Kingsville, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at Lee's Summit Hospital, Lee's Summit, Mo., following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Moundville, Mo., to Frank Nunez and Mary Ellen Little Nunez. He married Barbara Rice on Sept. 30, 1990, in Kansas City, Mo., and she survives.

Robert was born and reared in Moundville and graduated from Bronaugh High School. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Alaska. He attended Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Mo. Robert made his living as a city engineer, living most of his adult life in the Kansas City area. He was a licensed surveyor for the Missouri Highway Department. Robert was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, Kansas City, Mo.; one son, Anthony Garza, Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Catrina McDowell, Pittsburg, Pa.; one stepson, Brad Albert, Kingsville, Mo.; three grandchildren; three brothers, Paul Nunez and James Nunez, both of Kansas City, Mo., and Lee Nunez, Osage Beach, Mo.; six sisters, Angelina Geary, Nevada, Martha Tipling, Nevada, Tootie Boster, Wheatland, Mo., Mary Lou "Mickey" Gillespie, Independence, Mo., Teresa Huss, Nevada, and Norma Dayringer, Joplin, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Francis Nunez.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 20, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
