Rebekah L. Reed Saathoff Barton, 93, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. She was born on Feb. 9, 1913, in Harmon, Mo., to Fred Reed and Anna Genette Gilmartin Reed. She was married to Henry J. Saathoff and he preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1955.

Rebekah grew up in the Hannon area and graduated from Liberal High School. She lived on the family farm northwest of Bronaugh and then moved into Bronaugh before coming to Nevada. Rebekah worked at Cottey College and later at Nevada State Hospital as a cook until her retirement. She was a member of the Bronaugh Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star, Nevada, Mo.

Survivors include one daughter, Judith Ann Saathoff Braden and her husband, James, Nevada, Mo.; three grandsons, Larry Gazaway and his wife, Karen and their children, Sarah and Caleb, Fort Scott, Kan.; Jimmy and his wife, Dr. Rona Gazaway and their sons. Jack and Nicholas, Hutchinson, Kan.; and John Gazaway and his wife, Brenda and their sons, Joseph and Jacob, Nevada, Mo. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant daughter at birth in 1937, Anna Saathoff; three brothers, Steven Reed, G. F. Reed, and John Reed, and two sisters, Verla Smith and Leone Farmer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, Mo., with Lawrence Cripps officiating. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends Friday, Feb. 2, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, Mo.
