Audrey Alene Yates, 91, Nevada, Mo., died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at the Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, following an illness of several weeks. She was born Jan. 26, 1916, in Lawrence County, Mo., to Franklin Oscar Clyman and Dora Janette Evans Clyman. She was married Feb. 16. 1947 in Kansas City, Mo., to James Calvin Yates and he preceded her in death Sept. 28, 1999.

Mrs. Yates was born and reared in Lawrence County and graduated from Golden City High School, Golden City, Mo. During World War II she was in the Cadet Nurse Corp at General Hospital in Kansas City. She came to Nevada in 1965, and spent the remainder of her life in this area. She worked for 13 years as a nurse's aide at Nevada City Hospital, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Nevada. She was also a charter member of the Bushwacker Quilting Club and served in a variety of leadership roles in the Presbyterian Women's Group. She also sang in the choir at the First Presbyterian Church in Nevada for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Frank Yates, San Diego, Calif., and Roy Yates, Oklahoma City, Okla.; one daughter, Laura Janette Davidson, Prairie Village, Kan.; three grandchildren; one sister, Lorene Wheat, Carthage, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse and one brother, Oscar Franklin Clyman.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 21, at the First Presbyterian Church in Nevada with the Rev. Greg Ferree officiating. Friends may call now and until noon on Thursday, July 5, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

The family suggests that memorials may be made in her honor to the First Presbyterian Church, Nevada, in care of the funeral home.
