Angela Kay Scotten, 50, the daughter of William Everett and Anna Elizabeth (Hillier) Bailey, was born March 27, 1957, in Nevada, and passed from this life at 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at KU Medical Center.

Angela attended school in Schell City, one of the graduates of the class of 1975. Angela's education continued through most of her life, having received a bachelor's degree from Pittsburg State Universtiy, in Pittsburg, Kan., then attaining her Master's Degree at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. in Community Mental Health Services. She also attained her nurse practitioner's licensure in the State of Kansas. She not only worked as a practicing nurse, but was also the nursing ndministrator for Heartland Hospital in Nevada, serving in that position for five of the 10 years that she was employed there. Most recently, she had taught psychiatric nursing for eight years at Pittsburg State University. On Sept. 20, 1976, Angela was united in marriage to David Garwood, and to their union two sons were born. She was later married to Richard Scotten on April 13, 1990, in the Bell Chapel in Harrison, Ark., and with this marriage gained two more wonderful sons.

Angela was a member of the Harwood Baptist Church, in which she was very active. She was also known to be a very accomplished piano player, and enjoyed canning, making jelly, and especially playing with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Dick of the home in Walker, four sons, Clayton Garwood, and Brandon Garwood, both of Walker; Carl Scotten and his wife Donna of Stillwell, Kan.; and Doug Scotten and his wife Shelly of Osage Beach, Mo.; her father, Bill Bailey of Schell City; her sister, Bonnie Blakely and her husband Junior, also of Schell City; three grandchildren, Blake Garwood, and Hannah and Alaina Scotten; several neices, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Angela was preceeded in death by her loving mother, Anna.

Funeral services for Angela Kay Scotten were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Harwood Baptist Church with Mark Harvey officiating. Musical selections were provided by Diane Eslinger and Sharon Goodman. Pallbearers were Clayton Garwood, Brandon Garwood, Carl Scotten, and Doug Scotten. Interment was in the Green Mound Cemetery in Harwood, Mo. Memorials are suggested to the Fair Haven Park in care of the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City, whom were entrusted with Mrs. Scotten's funeral arrangements.
