Jack Arnold Peters. 78 Milo, Mo., passed away Friday, Aug. 17, at Research Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., following a lengthy illness. He was born Jan. 11, 1929, in Nevada, Mo., to John Peters and Henrietta Gaines Peters. He was married July 27, 1950 in Florence, Ariz., to Edith Edna Humbard who preceded him in death on July 9, 1994.

Mr. Peters was born and raised in this area and spent virtually his entire life here. He graduated from Sheldon High School. He served in the United States Army and was in Korea from 1951 to 1953. He made his living as a farmer, retiring in 1994.

Survivors include one daughter, Laura Zimmerman, Raymore, Mo.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse and one son, Gary L. Peters-Strain.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with John Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening between 7 and 8 p.m.

The family suggests that memorials may be made in his honor to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home.
