Melba Nore Wyckoff

Melba Nore Wyckoff, age 84, of Nevada, passed away on Wednesday evening, Oct. 17, 2007, at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo. She was born Dec. 21, 1922, in Hume, Mo., to Walter Lee Hamblin and Elsie Mae Bozarth Hamblin. She was married to Keith V. Wyckoff and he preceded her in death in 1977.

Nore was a longtime member of the First Christian Church, of Hume; a member of the Nevada Elks Club No. 564 and the Nevada Eagles Lodge No. 3770. She grew up in Hume, and graduated from school in 1940. Nore then went to work in Kansas City, Mo., in the aircraft industry for four years. She and her husband lived in Florida for 15 years before coming back to Kansas City, in 1958. Nore came to Nevada, in 1977 where she has lived ever since.

Survivors include one daughter, Jackie Hoffman, and her friend, Jim Rider, Nevada; one son, Robert Wyckoff and his wife Louise, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Kim Stoddard and her husband, Travis, Lee’s Summit, Mo., Brian Hoffman and his wife, Kimberly, Joplin, and Shane Wyckoff, Maryland; four great-grandchildren, Colton Hoffman, Hagen Hoffman, Adam Stoddard, and Matthew Stoddard. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter, Michele Wyckoff in 1991, and one brother, Bob Hamblin.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Ferry Funeral Home, with pastor Bill Platt officiating. A private committal will be held at a later date. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
