Velma Laveta Scott Still

Velma Laveta Scott Still, 99, Nevada, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada following a brief illness. She was born April 20, 1908, in Nevada, to Chester Withrow and Emma Ann Ball Withrow. She married Virgil O. Scott in March 1927 and he preceded her in death in August 1954. Later she married Earl Still in July 1959 in Nevada, and he preceded her in death.

Velma was born and raised in Nevada and spent most of all of her life here. She worked for a number of years at Wigg's and Pokorny's drug stores. She was a charter member of the Nevada Assembly of God and a member of the Nevada B.P.O.E. Does 564 and also served as chaplain.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Sue Rich and her husband Wilford, Nevada, and Sarah Claspill and her husband Tom, Nevada; two daughters-in-law, Margaret Scott and Patricia Stark, both of Nevada; eight grandchildren, Charles L. Scott, Milo, Mo., Pat Arnold, Nevada, Chris McCarty, Nevada, Greg Scott, Hepler, Kan., Barry Scott, Nevada, Deb Asberry, Nevada, Brandon Claspil Willard, Mo., and Vickie Meyers, Bonner Springs, Kan.; 27 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Ray and Bill Scott, two infants at births, six sisters, and one great-greatgranddaughter, Zoey Ipock.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Ted Furry officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Sunday evening, Nov. 18, at the funeral home.
