Floy Meryl Rynard, Nevada, passed away on Dec. 11, 2007, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center. She was born May 22, 1915, at La Cygne, Kan. Floy used to brag, "She was the only Jayhawker in her family." She was the daughter of Charles and Olive Hartsock Reynolds. She was the last of 14 children including a twin brother, Loy Beryl, who did not survive.

Floy was reared in the Berea community near Walker where her nephew, Marvin Forkner, introduced her to Orville T. Rynard. They were married in her parents' home on June 3, 1934. They moved into the Horton community and lived for more than 50 years on a farm between Metz and Horton. Later they moved to Nevada to spend the remainder of their lives. To this union three children were born: Stanley Orville, Ina May, and Brenda Kay.

Floy belonged to the Whitfield Extension Club. They met in the afternoon during fanning season and all day in the winter time. Each lady would bring a covered dish to the luncheon. They and their families would meet on Saturday night each month for games and pie or cake and ice cream. Floy made the best pies. She loved her sweets and Kentucky Fried Chicken. She was among the last few women to still attend the club when it was closed.

After Orville's death in 1994, she remained in her beloved home on East Edwards Street, Nevada. Due to age and failing health she later moved into Joe Clark Assisted Care facility. She was later transferred to the Barone Care Center.

Floy was a very devout believer in the Sacred Names and joined the Yahweh Assembly as a young woman and remained faithful until she passed from this life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her faithful husband, Orville, her brothers and sisters, and two grandsons, Steven Lee Rynard and Michael Ross Allison. She leaves to mourn, her passing, one son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Doris Rynard, Richards, Mo.; two daughters, Ina May Allison and her husband, Jerry, Oak Grove, Mo., and Brenda Kay Westerhold, and her husband, Mike, Nevada; four grandsons, Kenneth Rynard, Gary Allison, Kevin Westerhold and Justin Westerhold; two granddaughters, Joyce Mori and Cheryl Call; 14 great-grandchildren, Bradley Rynard, Amy Rynard, Emily Rynard, Garrett Gibson, Kristen Wilde, Tylor Rynard, Lauren Rynard, Brandon Rynard, Tristan Rynard, Jerod Call, Megan Allison, Alecia Westerhold, Eric Westerhold and Jeffery Westerhold; four great-great grandchildren, Zachary Rynard, Zoe Rynard, Zia Rynard, and Sage Wilde. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 14, at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, with pastor Don Palmer officiating. Friends may call at Ferry Funeral Home until 1:30 p.m., on Friday.

Those who wish may contribute to the Vernon County Cancer Relief Fund in her memory.
