Jay Jackson, age 71, of Nevada, died at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo., on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008. He was born on Nov. 15, 1936, in Gans, Okla., to William and Clara Pendergrass Jackson. On Feb.14, 1975, he was married to Marion Piscitelli Callaghan in Tulsa, Okla., and she survives of the home.

Jay was raised in the Gans, Okla., area. In 1957, he entered the United States Air Force where he served until 1962 as a mechanic. Jay owned and operated Bandag Tire, in Nevada, from 1976 to 1987, in Nevada, and was later self employed in the tire business until his retirement in 2005. He was a Baptist and was a long-time member of BPO Elks No. 564, in Nevada.

Survivors include his wife Marion of the home, four children, Cherri Jackson of the home, Travis Jackson and his wife Lindsay of Independence, Mo., Suzanne Hall and her husband Rick of Seneca, Mo., and Michael Callaghan and his fiancé Mischele, Lamar, Mo.; six grandchildren, Chelsey Hall, Brittany Callaghan, Trevor Callaghan, Hailey Jackson, Lanie Jackson, and Tyler Jackson; one brother, Glen Jackson and his wife Lora, Ft. Smith, Ark., two sisters, Phyllis Ramsey, Fort Smith, Ark., and Connie Cummings, Panama, Okla., and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Patricia Ann McAfee, Doris Ilean Jackson, Lucille Jackson, and Colleen Jackson, four brothers, Floyd, Louis, Hershel, and Kenneth James Jackson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Dr. Jim Wilson, Seneca, Mo., officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery, Fort Scott. Friends may call from noon, on Monday until the hour of service on Wednesday. Services by BPO Elks No. 564 will begin at 7 p.m., and a visitation will follow until 8 p.m., on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
