Ellen Maxine Race

Ellen Maxine Race, age 77 of Nevada, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 29, 2008, following a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 25, 1931, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Arlie Raney and Margaret M. Killion Raney. On Jan. 28, 1974, she was married in Kansas City, Mo., to Wayne L. Race and he survives of the home.

Maxine grew up in Vincennes, Ind., and graduated from the Shortridge High School, in Indianapolis. She lived in Kansas City for 30 years until 1999 when she and her husband moved to Nevada.

In addition to her husband Wayne, she is survived by one son, Randy Russell of Overland Park, Kan., one stepson, Mark Race, Independence, Mo., one stepdaughter, April Leffler, Nevada, two sisters, Thelma "Dolly" Falcinelli, state of California and Kay Bass, of Fort Branch, Ind., one brother, Stephen Fowler, Bicknell, Ind., three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Leon Raney.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, April 2, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with pastor Jim Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call from now until the hour of service and the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
