Barbara Lee Wolfe, 67, Republic, was escorted to her Heavenly Home by her Friend and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 1:25 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2008, in St. Johns Hospital, Springfield. She was born Jan. 18, 1941 in Joplin, Missouri, the daughter of Samuel Clarence Jr. and Lula Mae "Lou" (Shaw) Bethel.

Barbara was saved at summer camp at the age of 12.

She was united in marriage to William L. "Bill" Wolfe, and to this union were born three children.

She had worked for Beebe Insurance, and Meadors Funeral Home as a funeral director for several years, both located in Republic.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home; three children and their spouses, Kristi Raelene and Mike VanWyk, Republic, Kevin Lynn and Jenny Wolfe, Philadelphia, Mo., and Mary Elizabeth and Scott Connell, Battlefield; eight grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Minor and husband Bud, Butler, Mo.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; a sister by choice, Janice Hayden, Springfield; and many other extended family and friends.

A "Celebration of Life" for Barbara will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 19, in Hood United Methodist Church Christian Life Center, Republic, with the Rev. Steve Burbee officiating, under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, with a private burial at Brookline Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Sunday, in the Christian Life Center.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara requested that donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
