Gary Wayne Richter

Gary Wayne Richter, age 52, of Bethany, Okla., the son of Elmer George Henry and Mabel Frances (Creager) Richter was born Oct. 15, 1955, in Harrisonville, Mo., and passed from his life on Monday, June 9, 2008, at the Baptist Medical Center, in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Gary attended school in both Harrisonville and Garden City, and for most of this life made the Harrisonville area his home. He worked mostly construction throughout the years, but was most recently employed by a retail grocer in Bethany, Okla. For a short time in 2002-2003, Gary lived in Schell City, Mo., then moved to Oklahoma after his mother's death in 2003. One of Gary's greatest loves was music, especially the old time Rock'n'Roll from the 70s. He also loved to play cards, and all of his life he had the most unique gift of being able to make people laugh, even when they were down. Even when he was down, he was always positive. He will be loved and missed forever.

Survivors include two daughters, Monica James, of Independence, Mo., and Bonnie Smith, of Bethany, Okla.; two sons, Travis Richter, of the state of Colorado and Dakota Richter of the home; two brothers, Richard Richter, of Farmington, Mo., and Doland Richter, of El Dorado Springs, Mo.; four sisters, Janet Harbinson, of Holden, Mo., Frankie Davis, of Milo, Wanda Goodman, of Schell City, and Joyce Matlock, of Oak Grove, Mo.; eight grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and son, Little Gary.

Funeral services for Gary Wayne Richter, will be held at 1 p.m., June 13, at the First Baptist Church, in Schell City, with brother Terry Mosher officiating. Pallbearers are Jeff Stutzman, J.W. Matlock, Richard Richter Jr., Danny Graham, Brian Davis, and Leslie Richter. Interment will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery, in Schell City.

Memorial contributions are suggested to a fund that has been established for Mr. Richter's 7-year-old son, Dakota.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home, in Schell City.
