Post -- 60 years
Joyce E. Newcomb and Elmer C. Post were married on June 18, 1948, at Linwood Methodist Church in Kansas City, Mo., by Dr. Cassius E. Street. In honor of their 60th wedding anniversary, their family will host an open house on Saturday, June 21, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. at their home, 2223 StoneGate Dr., Nevada. All family and friends are welcome to come help them celebrate this momentous occasion.
Elmer, a native of Vernon County, returned to Nevada following his graduation from Cleveland Chiropractic College. He opened his practice in December of 1948 and continued his practice in Nevada until his retirement in May 2003. Joyce was a stay-at-home mom until September 1972, when she joined Elmer as his office manager. She also retired in May 2003.
Elmer and Joyce are the parents of six children, Dr. Kay and husband Dr. Gary Carver, Kansas City, Mo., Janet and husband Bill Erwin, Nevada, Debi and husband Steve Zoglmann, Nevada, Dr. Dan and wife Cathy Post, Oklahoma City, Okla., Don and wife Tina Post, Wheatland, Mo., and Nancy and husband Bill Jeffries, Nevada. They are the grandparents of 15 grandchildren and three (soon to be four) great-grandchildren. They don't travel anymore but still enjoy hosting family gatherings and having family and friends drop in for visits anytime.
