Eldon Allen Williams, 82, Independence, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo., following an illness of a few weeks. He was born Dec. 5, 1925, in Vernon County, Mo., to Elbert Byron Williams and Thelma Fergus Williams. He married Betty Mooney on Oct. 8, 1949, in Kansas City, Mo., and she survives of the home.

Eldon was born in Vernon County and spent most of his adult life in the Kansas City area. He made his living as an over-the-road truck driver. He was a member of the Teamster's Local No. 722 and No. 710. Eldon loved to travel and loved his family very much.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; two sons, Glen Williams and his wife Chris, Prince George, Va., and Robert Williams and his wife Dawn, Midlothian, Ill.; one daughter, Sharon Kay Lee; four grandsons; three great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter, and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marsha Williams, and three brothers, Ernest, Eugene, and Charles Williams.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at Shiloh Cemetery, Barton County, Mo., with Richard Wood officiating. Friends may call now and until 10 a.m., on Monday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
