Arthur Lee Armstrong, 83, Nevada, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at his home in Nevada following a brief illness. He was born on Oct. 14, 1925, in Nevada, to Commodore Perry Armstrong and Mabel Phillips Armstrong. He married Edith J. Davis in 1984, in Nevada, and she survives of Nevada.

Arthur was born and reared in Nevada and spent most all of his life here. He served in the United States Army during World War II and retired from the Army in 1962. He received numerous medals and accommodations while in the service including three bronze stars, National Defense Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Following his time in the service, he worked as a trucker and also worked for many years in maintenance at the Nevada State Hospital. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.

Survivors in addition to his wife Edith include two daughters, Robyne Maxville, Nevada, and Betty Kolodziejski, of the state of Florida; several stepchildren; numerous grandchildren; three nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in National Cemetery, Fort Scott.
