Irene Mae Chandler, 83, formerly of Nevada, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at the Crown Care Center Nursing Home in Harrisonville with her family and close friend by her side. She was born March 23, 1925, in Bronaugh, Mo., to Harry A. Ricketts and Reland Smith Ricketts. She married Jap J. Chandler on March 21, 1977, in Bronaugh, and he preceded her in death.

Irene was a graduate of Bronaugh High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for Allied Mental Health in Nevada for 25 years until her retirement in 2005. Irene was a long-time member of the Bronaugh Methodist Church. She was a loyal Kansas Jawhawk fan. "You will be missed terribly, but we take comfort knowing you are at peace now and in a better place."

Survivors include two daughters, Connie Leatherman and her husband Tom, Peculiar, Mo., and Sherri Snyder, O'Fallen, Mo.; five stepchildren, Sheila Hart, Pat Chandler, Rod Chandler, Phil Chandler and Connie Chandler, all of Hartville, Mo.; one granddaughter, Angie Senkevech, Nevada; two great-granddaughters, Jordawn and Kori Leer, both of Nevada, and a very dear friend JoAnn Snyder, Harrisonville, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Albert, Carl Wilbur and Jerry Ricketts.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at the Bronaugh Methodist Church, Bronaugh, Mo. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh. Friends may call now and until 11 a.m., on Monday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. and the family receives friends 5-6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
